Change/Modify a Dataset
Change/Modification means Edit a previously created data-set. The option ‘Edit Dataset’ is available from the context menu option of the IDEAL-ANALYTICS [IA] Explorer. The user should select the dataset first and right click on a data-set to get the Edit option. And the same screen will appear which appeared at the time of creation. The difference is, here all fields are pre-populated with previously given data. Therefore, the rest of the procedure for edit is similar to creation a new data-set. This image displays the edit option. While editing a dataset, there are two types of modification, for first type of changes data doesn’t need to be reloaded again, e.g., changing the alias name, changing the order, or changing the Fact/Dimension type, etc. There are some other types of changes, where data needs to be reloaded from the data-source once again for the changes to affect, e.g., changing the expression of a calculated column, or changing the datatype of a column, etc. IA provides appropriate message to the user once the changes are saved. |
