Choosing Facts & Dimensions

Fact & Dimension are two very common terminologies in data analysis. IDEAL-ANALYTICS [IA] applies some intelligence to recognize columns as facts/dimensions. But you are free to change this default identification. Fact and dimension are represented as “F” and “D” respectively as the “Type” of target columns in the configuration view. Clicking on this property will open a drop-down from where “F” or “D” can be selected against each column. Same source column can be selected twice (with different alias names), one of which can be defined as a Fact whereas the other can be defined as Dimension. Fact columns must be of type NUMBER or INTEGER, because mathematical operations are applied on the Fact columns e.g., SUM, AVG, etc.
