Working with Data-types

Data-type is a very important and commonly used term in databases or data analysis. It represents the nature of the data whether it is a text, number, date or date & time and so on.

Each column has a data-type associated with it. Sorting your data or calculation of aggregation operations (like sum, min, max etc.) varies across different data-types.

IDEAL-ANALYTICS [IA] recognizes the data-type of each column. It can also be changed to a supported one. Specifying unsupported data-type will result in errors during the data-import process. Please note that for Fact columns the data-type must be either NUMBER or INTEGER. For Dimension columns, it can be anything.
